The Johnsons are the "oldest newcomers" in Madrid, arriving in the '70s at the dawn of this ghost town's rebirth as an arts community. Diana and Mel Johnson's block-printed and silk-screened clothing are among the works of over 50 northern New Mexico fiber artists, whose "wearables and wallables" fill the massive space - formerly the coal truck repair garage in Madrid's coal-mining heyday. Choose from willow baskets, woven clothing, rugs, and hangings, crocheted and knitted clothing, hand-painted silks, beadwork, and much more.
